Coming from a background in Social Care, with over a decades experience of working with and supporting children and families before starting my own family, I was confident that I had all the skills and knowledge to be the most amazing Mama. But having two babies in two years in a new city showed me that Matrescence hits us all and breaks us open and we need a Village to support us through the journey of mamahood.
Returning to work after four years off, I retrained as a Psychotherapeutic Adolescent Counsellor to further support the children and young people that I work with and provide a program of psycho education to young people around metal health, their changing brains and how this impacts on their minds. As I was also on my own journey of Matrescence, I saw how aligned these were, and the importance of psycho education and starting conversations around this important time of change for mama’s and the aspects that are not generally discussed.
I jumped at the opportunity to train as a Mama Rising Matrescence Coach and Facilitator with the amazing Amy Taylor Kabbaz and am honoured and excited to now be able to support other mama’s on their journey’s of Matrescence and provide a community of support as we all find our way together.
